Keonjhar

Keonjhar ITDP was established in the year1974-75 as per TSP Guidelines which was registered as ITDA in the year 1979 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The Jurisdiction of the ITDA Keonjhar comprises of one revenue Sub-Division (Keonjhar Sadar), 7 Blocks i,e. Keonjhar, Saharapada, Ghatgaon, Patna, Harichandanpur, Banspal & Telkoi, 158 GPs and 1191 and one Micro Project i,e. JDA, Gonasika. It’s boundary spreads over Mayurbhanj district in the East, Angul & Sundargarh district in the West, Champua ITDA in the North & Anandpur sub-division in the South. The ITDA is situated 210  5’ N and 210 32’N Latitude and 840 5’E and 860 5’E Longitude. The geographical area of Keonjhar ITDA is divided into two regions i.e the hilly regions of the West covering Telkoi, Banspal and Harichandanpur Blocks and Plateau region of the East comprising Ghatgaon, Patna, Saharapada and Keonjhar Blocks.  The whole ITDA area has long historical places known as Badaghagara which is famous for Perennial water fall & picnic spot, Gonasika is famous where sacred Baitarani flows, Sanghagara is also famous for Perennial water fall & picnic spot, Ghatgaon is famous for MAA TARINI, Sitabinj for painting and Sidhamatha is famous for Goddess Sidhakali.  A number of rivers such as the Baitarani, Deo, Birol, Musal, Kalinijhar, Budhi, Aradei, Machhakandana, Sita, Samakoi and Kukurkata are flowing in the project area.

Champua ITDP was established in the year 1976 as per TSP Guidelines which was registered as ITDA in the year 1979 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 vide Registration No. 15076\1920 dated 15.3.1979. The Jurisdiction  of the ITDA Champua comprises of one revenue Sub-Division (Champua Sadar),  3 Blocks i.e. Champua, Joda & Jhumpura, 60 GPs and 423 villages. It’s boundary spreads over Mayurbhanj district in the East, Sundargarh  district in the  West, Jharkhand State in the North & Keonjhar in the South. The ITDA is situated 210 49’ 24” N and 220 16’ 45”N Latitude and 850 14’6”E and 850 48’ 30”E   Longitude. The geographical area of Champua ITDA is divided into two agro climatic regions i.e the hilly regions of Bhuyanpirh and Sub-mountainous region.  The whole ITDA area has some historical places, namely Murga fall and Handibhanga fall. Murga fall is famous for Shrine of  Lord Shiva where Murga Mahadev is situated and Handibhanga fall is situated in the  handhibhanga hill ranges. River Baitarani, Oronai, Aradei are flowing through the project area and there are also network of hill streams running in the direction of the project.

Juang Development Agency, Gonasika was established in the year 1978-79 during Annual  Plan (1979-80) and registered on  (dated) 07.10.1978 under Society Registration Act, 1860 as its head quarters  located  at Gonasika of Keonjhar district . At present it is functioning in its own Building at Gonasika. It is spread over 6 GPs in Banspal Blocks of Keonjhar District. It comes under the jurisdiction of Keonjhar ITDA of Keonjhar District.  The total geographical area of the project is 641.44sq.kms. The average annual rain fall of the project area is 1712.40mm. The Temperature varies from 70-C to 130-C during October to December and it rises to 400-C during March to May. The type of soil found in the region is Red Lateritic Soil Group. The Baitarani originates from the project area.
